Stryn is perfect for the active tourist. Visit Nordfjord offers well developed maps for beautiful mountain hikes in the area that would suit any activity level. The staff at the hotel will help you to plan your day.
Salmon fishing
Visnes Hotel offers salmon fishing in the Stryn River from June to August. In Stryn, there are long traditions for salmon fishing - and we work with experienced fisher men’s. Please contact us for a day pass at good fishing spots.
Deer hunting
From September to November, we arrange deer hunting with a guide for small groups. Visnes Hotel rents hunting grounds in the immediate area, and offers packages with food and accommodation at the hotel, or with self-catering in the cabin by the hotel. Please contact us for more information.

Briksdal valley
The mighty glacier in Briksdal is a part of Jostedalsbreen National Park. From an altitude of 1200 meters, the wild glacier falls all the way down into the green valley - a sight that attracts guests from all over the world.
Lodalen valley
The Lodalen is spectacular, and the valley's dramatic history makes this valley special. Here you can visit Kjenndalsbreen glacier, which is Jostedalsbreen glacier's lowest glacier arm. Further down is the charming farm Breng, which has become a lovely photo motive. Maybe you want to try a bath in the green glacier water? We can also recommend a visit to Bødalssætra, where you can walk to the glacier Bødalsbreen.
Loen Skylift
The cable car Loen Skylift is one of the steepest in the world, and lifts people from the fjord in Loen to the mountain Hoven (1011 m) in five minutes. At the top is Hoven Restaurant with 350 seats. Here you will a spectacular view and easily reachable hiking paths.
Loen Active
Loen Active gives you experiences starting from their meeting point in Loen. Via Ferrata Loen, kayak trips, mountain hikes with guide, SUP board, cycling and activities on the fjord. In the winter, they offer ice skating, as well as rental of snowshoes and sleds at Loen Skylift.
Hydlaparken
In Hydlaparken, you can play on climbing trails between the treetops, howl through zip lines, challenge yourself in the pump track, or relax with a cup of coffee. The little ones can frolic in miniHYDLA, the toughest can jump from Hydlaspranget.- Or maybe you just want to explore the beautiful moraine ridge on which the climbing park is built, stroll along the paths and look up at the treetops. Here you will find activities for people of all ages.
Jostedalsbreen National Park Center
On the north side of Europe's largest mainland glacier is the Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre. The national park centre is located in Stryn, in the middle of the wild Norwegian fjord landscape, surrounded by lush valleys and steep mountains. This is a visitor centre which conveys natural values, cultural monuments and history of the people in and around the national park.
Sagastad
Sagastad is western Norway's new knowledge centre for the Viking Age. Here you can experience the 30 meter long Myklebust ship - one of the world's largest Viking ships. Learn about mystery and rituals, about great voyages in fantastic ships, and about our exiting cultural history.
Geirangerfjorden
If you take a day trip from Visnes Hotel, you will find the Geirangerfjord - rightly called "Pearl among Norwegian fjords". The more than 20 km long fjord arm between Hellesylt and Geiranger, is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage. Here, impressive waterfalls send cascades of water down steep mountain slopes, or decorate the mountain wall with thin, fluffy showers. On shelves up in the steep mountain sides, you can see the abandoned farms, which show us the history of the people who used to live there.
Stryn Summerski
At Strynefjellet you will find Stryn Summerski. The road here is open between May and October. The centre is located on the glacier Tystigbreen, and offers unique nature experiences with summer snow. The chairlift will be in the glacier pool, here you can go alpine skiing, or go for a hike on the glacier (guide is recommended here).
